Parents/Grandparents Sponsorship Interest to Sponsor Form Deadline

If you are a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident living in Canada who  wants to sponsor the following family members living abroad, you have until noon EST on February 1, 2018 to fill out an “Interest to Sponsor” form. On January 2, 2018, the Government of Canada started receiving online submissions from potential sponsors who would like to sponsor their parents or grandparents to become permanent residents of Canada. Ottawa axes $1,000 application fee to hire foreign nannies and caregivers

OTTAWA—Some families seeking foreign caregivers to look after their children or family members with a disability will be exempt from paying a $1,000 application fee. The federal government published new regulations around hiring foreign caregivers on Wednesday, following through on a budget promise to change a system many felt placed an unfair burden on lower income families. The $1,000 application fee to hire foreign workers had been implemented in 2014 to address abuses in the broader temporary foreign worker program.
